A love letter to my revert sisters

I had a discussion in one of my online community sessions about the mean and terrible behavior of certain muslims online (mostly from a specific gender - that I shall not name, but they are not the same as me ;) ) .... it's been eating at me and I have been thinking about it like a broken record.

So, I choose today to write this message to all my revert sisters (irrespective of when you became a muslim)

To every revert sister feeling overwhelmed, judged, or “not Muslim enough” because of people online:

Please remember this very carefully: Allah chose YOU.

Out of billions of people in this world, Allah opened YOUR heart to Islam.

“And you do not guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills.” (Surah Al-Qasas 28:56)

So do not let strangers on social media make you feel small because you are still learning hijab, still learning Arabic, still learning salah, or still trying to pronounce Quran correctly, or for any other reason in your path to Allah.

You are LEARNING, and Allah loves sincere effort.

The Prophet said: “Islam wipes away whatever came before it.”(Sahih Muslim)

Your sins were erased the day you entered Islam. A completely clean slate. Like a newborn soul beginning again. In your state, your duas may be answered faster than mine, a born muslim.

Some of us born into Islam spent years taking guidance for granted while collecting sins without appreciating the gift you fought to find. SubhanAllah.

So never think you are “less than.” In fact, I love being around reverts because YOU open my eyes to so many different angles of Islam that I would not see on my own. You make me fall in love with my religion all over again. You make me love Allah like you do, because sisters, You came to Islam through conviction, sacrifice, questions, tears, courage, and sincerity. That is something beautiful.

Do not rush your journey because people are impatient with you.

Grow steadily. Learn gently. Stay close to Allah.

The loudest people online are not the gatekeepers of Jannah.

May Allah protect your hearts, strengthen your faith, surround you with kind companions, and make your journey to Him filled with light. 🤍
